FM Synth
FM Synth creates great tones, both realistic and unnatural. Fenix Song uses it in many songs and is now creating a video series on how to do sound design with it from scratch.
My FM Synths:
Yamaha MoDX (oops, sold when got the Fantom 6…no FM but super powered synth)
Synthstrom Deluge
PreenFM2 (as Eurorack Module)
Elektron Model: Cycles (sold)
Novation Summit (more of a Hybrid/Wavetable synth but has good FM too)
(had Elektron Digitone but sold it once I got MoDX) (Sold MoDX…so may want some other FM synth…well…)
Korg Volca FM2… (its got the DX7 just not the easiest editing)
Roland TR8S… has many different FM models for drums, each has narrow range of controls but lots of easy to use potential. Still wrapping my head around the offerings

FM Ratios to Semitones
As Shown in the Video, here are results from the Excel Spreadsheet converting common Ratios into Semitones. This is useful on Deluge, Summit, or any synth that has FM using Semitones not Ratios. NOW: use my new Online Calculator so you can convert ANY Ratio to Semitones!
